The lake at Bellebouche near Mezeieres-en-Brenne is one of the largest lakes within 'The Brenne National Park' and is its centre for leisure activities. As well as the 900metres of sandy beaches which include safe bathing for young children, there are fish ponds, nature trails, play parks and a snack bar/restaurant.

On the water there are kayaks and pedalos for hire, while on dry land you can cycle or hike the well marked-out pathways.

The site plays host to a holiday village of 32 chalets.

The surrounding area is also a site for natural history observation. Its reed bed and the surrounding heaths and woodland make for a great diversity of wildlife.
