Eglise Saint Martin & Saint Avertin

We visited the church at Saint-Avertin under unbelievably blue skies at the end of October. In the view above you can see the 12th century chapel on the left that had to wait until the 15th century to acquire the bell tower.

On the right is newer chancel and side chapels again from the 15th century.

The chancel and side chapels are rib-vaulted and painted to good effect.

They made a fine job of restoring the inside of the church during the 19th century... 


...and today contains some fine pieces of artwork.

Where's Joan? She features in the circular window to the rear of the church.
