The mini chateaux park just outside Amboise is probably one of the
first stops you should consider on
your visit to the Loire Valley as not only will it impress the kids
(the younger ones anyway, no computer generated effects for the
older ones) but it will give you the chance to preview
the chateaux to allow you to decide which ones to visit. The one
thing for sure is it won't be them all!
You
will view miniature models of the most famous chateaux of the Loire
region and admire the quality of the reproductions.
The park spread
out along a route of 1.5 km and in addition to the chateaux there are miniature railways, with the whole site landscaped with small
shrubs and bonsais trees to complete the effect. The kids have the
choice of period costumes to wear during their visit -which can add
to the general fun!
Tip:
Bit overpriced so save money by buying joint-ticket for here
and Aquarium de Loire.
Les Balcons
in Le Grand Pressigny is
a substantial 3 bedroom house ( sleeps 6)over two floors
with a delightful raised balcony offering lovely views to give you a
countryside feel but with all the village amenities.
Le Bourg is a lovely riverside barn conversion with separate 'petite maison' (sleeps 6+). The house is in the village of Barrou, 7k from Le Grand Pressigny and as the name suggests is located in the centre
of the village. Its situation means you have the benefits of experiencing a small French village but you are also ideally placed to visit all the major attractions of the Loire valley plus some of the highlights of the neighbouring department of 'Vienne.
